Start your first app
Podless runs open source apps for you. No server, no Docker, no command line. All you need is an account and a few minutes.
Create an account#
- Go to Create account. Either enter an email address and a password, or sign in with Google, GitHub, GitLab or Discord.
- Confirm your email address through the link we send you.
- Done. Your account holds €5 of welcome credit.
No credit card needed for that. The welcome credit keeps a small app running for a few weeks. Anything beyond it you top up yourself. We never charge more than what was topped up.
Pick an app#
The catalogue lists every app with a sentence on what it does, screenshots and the price at its recommended size. If you are leaving a service you already know, the alternatives take you to the right app faster.
Start it#
- In the dashboard, click “Add app”.
- Choose the app. The name is optional, without one it is named after the software.
- Choose a region, EU or US.
- Confirm the size. The recommended one fits most people, and you can change it any time.
- Click “Add”.
Careful
The region is fixed when the app is created and cannot be changed afterwards. If you need the app in the other region, create it there instead.
What happens next#
Your app gets its own address on podless.app, a valid certificate and its own environment with its own database, its own storage and its own limits for CPU and memory. After a few moments the card says “Running”, and “Open” takes you in.
Note
You create the first user inside the app, not with us. In most apps whoever goes in first becomes the administrator, so best do it right after the start.
